Dear Niedermeyer Family Members, Near and Far –
The Oregon Branch of the Niedermeyer family looks forward to hosting our upcoming reunion of the German, Nebraska and Oregon branches June 21 – 23, 2019. It will be held in the Rogue Valley of southern Oregon near Medford. This is the part of the world where Ludwig and Charlotte Niedermeyer decided to settle permanently in the late 1800’s.
We will begin with an informal gathering on the evening of June 20. On Friday June 21, we will visit Crater Lake National Park. Saturday June 22 will be a tour of sites in historic Jacksonville and Medford that have relevance to Niedermeyer history. Sunday afternoon June 23, there will be a western country barbecue feast at Wendt Farm one of the original Niedermeyer family farms.
We have a website for you to visit https://www.niedermeyerreunion.com. There you can let us know you will be attending the reunion and the number of people in your party. You can also register for the Crater Lake tour and each of the events where food will be served.
It is important that you reserve a place to stay promptly and a rental car if you are not driving to the reunion in your own car. June is a busy tourist season in the Rogue Valley. Places to stay fill quickly and car rentals become scarce. You will find links to accommodations and car rentals on the website. A block of 40 rooms at Rogue Regency Inn and Suites has been set aside at a rate of $70 plus taxes. You must book your room before May 20 to receive that rate. https://rogueregency.com/ Mention that you are with the Niedermeyer Family Reunion. There are links on the reunion website to help you find other accommodations, a convenient recreational vehicle camping site, and rental cars.
Some family members who are traveling long distances plan to spend a few extra days touring Oregon. We suggest a day in the neighboring city of Ashland, home to the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Lithia Park. A visit to the majestic redwood forests at Jedidiah Smith Redwood State Park in Northern California and the southern section of the Oregon coast near Brookings is beautiful and can be comfortably done in one day from the Rogue Valley.
If you know of a family member who does not use the internet or receive email, will you please pass this information on to them? You may also send their postal mailing addresses to us at niedermeyerreunion2019@gmail.com or postal address: Nancy Vaughn, PO Box 1324, Jacksonville OR 97530, USA.
See you in June!
Sincerely,
The Reunion Planning Group: Elizabeth Niedermeyer Arnold, Cindy Niedermeyer, Cheryl Conger Noles, Marcia Skinner, Phyllis Wendt Skinner, Nancy Niedermeyer Vaughn, Evelyn Niedermeyer Weaver
